When I was a young girl, I remember my dad was always working - in the pharmacy, then delivering medicine to the people who could not make it to the pharmacy themselves. But on Wednesdays, my mom would be at the pharmacy and dad was home. So we then almost always had apple pancakes for lunch (not sure if my mom prepared the dough or if he actually did himself) - and Wednesdays was his day to be „building things“. (He also did in the evenings and on weekends). I loved being right there with him - watching him (and probably getting in the way). For the longest time we had a concrete-mixing-machine in our backyard. And the house constantly got nicer and more finished. My dad build all the kitchen cabinets himself and tiled the bathroom and and and.

Whenever our friends needed something fixed, they would come to my dad. This always made me very proud.

Oh - and I remember my dad loving his midday naps (and he still does).

While my mom was the one organizing our vacations, birthday parties and never got tired of art projects, my dad would teach us how to work with wood and be handy.

And still today, he comes to help me with those projects - and I still love every minute of it.

I know he sometimes felt that he didn’t spent enough time with us kids as he was working so much. But it’s not true. To me it was truly quality time to watch him build things to make our home beautiful. And it was so special that our das was home every Wednesday when we came home from school. Such a gift.

Dad - I love you so very much - and am looking forward to testing out your new project - the pizza oven / bread oven very soon. It already looks amazing.

Thanks for being you!
